2018 Beijing International Music & Life Show Show Report
The 4th Beijing International Music & Life Show, co-organized by China Music Instrument Association (CMIA) and INTEX Shanghai Co., Ltd, was successfully held in the China International Exhibition Centre, Beijing, from July 6th to 8th last year.
Beijing International Music & Life Show, with music at the core, establishes four themed halls according to three main lines: “creating music, listening to music, and appreciating music”. The four exhibition halls, Tech Trends, Love Learning, Eastern Essence, and Western World, created varied music and life scenes and explore the “crossover and integration” mode, aiming to provide the musical industry the most advanced trends, the timely customer feedback, the sharing crossover resource, and the new opportunity for product development, by creating different music and life scenes.
In 2018, the exhibition gathered more than 300 brands and products presented on site, covering a space of 30,000 square meters, and attracted 35,879 visits.
As a multidimensional pioneer exhibition which integrates cultural interpretation, music education and industry cooperation and exchange,Beijing International Music Life show invited celebrities from all walks of life to launch nearly 100 music culture thematic activities, while three great music competitions were held to cultivate local musicians. Meanwhile, we united the Central Conservatory of Music, China Musical Instrument Association, China Musicians Association and National Music Education Service Cooperative Alliance to launch The National Music Education Conference. And the first training course in Beijing for dealers of piano operators was held simultaneously to discuss the core problems of operation and future business growth of piano companies.
Diverse music cultural thematic activities to help the music cultural industry and build a music lifestyle
A large number of famous Chinese musician visited the Oriental Reception Hall to elaborate on the essence of folk music. Professor Zhang Zunlian, Director of the Department of National Music of China Conservatory of Music and a famous Erhu performer, talked about the history, present and future of Erhu; Dong Xiaolin, Chief of Pipa of the China National Traditional Orchestra, performed in her precise, delicate, calm and atmospheric style to reveal the secrets of the instrument; and Wang Peng, a representative successor of the national intangible cultural heritage project of “Guqin Art”, introduced the lesson of Guqin appreciation ancient times; Luo Zijie, a non-hereditary inheritor of traditional fragrance making techniques, tells about the life of books and tea and the spirit of mountains and rivers.
From making violin to playing piano, Art Salon deduces western classics. Violin-making Workshop invites Zheng Quan, Director of Violin-making Research Center of Central Conservatory of Music and “Master of Violin Manufacturing in China”, with young and middle-aged violin makers to produce scrolls and “F” holes on-site. This year, we also invited the first Chinese chamber orchestra who joined the Montreal International Quartet Music Festival,a famous ensemble group, Amber Quartet, performed the beauty of stringed instrument. Chen Xi, the youngest first prize winner of Tchaikovsky International Music Competition, enthusiastically described his music experience. More famous musicians,such as jazz pianist Huang Jianyi, Bess performer Ji Peng and percussion performer Wen Feng who composed GST Jazz Trio actively shows the North-South collision of Chinese jazz through performance and talk.
Celebrity of guitar explores the story behind the guitar collection. This year, the Guitar Celebrity Interview Room continued to invite eight leading guitar figures and collectors such as Chen Lei(guitarist of the Tang Dynasty), Wenlin, Zhang Zhihuan(guitar collector), Liu Chunyang(curator of the Guitar Museum), Yan Xingang(lead singer of the Musketeer Band), and other collectors to come on the stage to talk about their relationship with the instrument of guitar and music stories. Fender, IBANEZ, RELISH and more than a dozen collection-level guitars from all over the world will be displayed in the guitar collection area, which strongly excited guitar enthusiasts.
Simultaneously events and contests to cultivate music power of the youth
The fringe three competitions, 1st OnStar Original Electronic Dance Music Competition, Chinese Drummer Championship and 2nd Music & Life Kid Rock Band Contest of China, aim at fostering the development of domestic music culture and the growth of musicians, together with a goal to celebrate and inspire creativity and originality in the youth. The events attract hundreds of participants of all age groups from the early planning stages to the live final competition. We are delighted to have genius musicians at home and abroad to celebrate the music talent and power of Chinese young generation.
‘Listen to Me’ charity project help to realize music dreams of hearing-impaired children
The charity project, Listen to Me, jointly supported by Audiology Development Foundation of China and RDEC, cares for hearing-impaired children. During the exhibition period, we organize a charity auction for hearing-impaired children from disadvantaged household and successfully raise a fund of 7377 RMB.
National Music Education Conference to foster the popularization and promotion for music education
The National Music Education Conference is jointly led by the China Music Instrument Association, Central Conservatory of Music, China Association for Symphonic Bands and Ensembles, National Music Education Service Alliance, and Shanghai Intex Exhibition Co., Ltd. The conference brings together famous experts and scholars at home and abroad, focusing on the hot issues such as music theory, creation, teaching, experience and communication and so on, centrally presenting the achievements of current music education in aspect. Containing 9 keynote speeches, 3 panel discussions and 90 workshops, the conference is definitely a unique international crossover and integration platform for general music educators to learn and exchange experiences.
Based in China’s political and cultural center, Beijing International Music & Life Show is a diversified modern exhibition integrating music aesthetics, cultural interpretation, business communication and cooperation, and trade display for both music lovers and music practitioners, serving national arts and music education market. Within just a three-year span, Beijing International Music & Life Show has grown into a show of distinctive character and artistic inspiration, gaining influence across the country in particular the northern region.
